While we will focus on reading and active discussion, the writer is expected to share at least one short story idea and develop them in the workshop. Join The Detective, the Dragon, and the Debutante: A Genre-Fiction Writing Workshop to find out! We will study published short stories from each broad genre, i.e., fantasy, sci-fi, horror, mystery, noir, romance, magical realism, etc., and attempt to identify what they do well and why the particular genre was chosen for the story that is being told. What is genre fiction? Is it a stable category? How can we master writing genre fiction? ![]()
